Optech to Exhibit at Oceanology International 2010

Toronto, Canada, March 3, 2010

Optech Incorporated, the leading manufacturer of advanced lidar survey instruments, is pleased to announce that it will be exhibiting its hardware and software at Stand #D500 at Oceanology International 2010 in London, England, on March 9-11.

Optech will present a spectacular 3D display of seafloor reflectance images, hyperspectral data, and seafloor classification maps. The maps are based on data collected by Optech's SHOALS airborne lidar bathymeter, and processed by Optech’s proprietary Rapid Environmental Assessment (REA) software.

REA is the only image processing software to provide coastal environmental information by fusing airborne lidar and hyperspectral data. SHOALS systems are used by mapping agencies and survey companies to gather shallow water, shoreline and topographic (ground elevation) data simultaneously, integrating land and water measurements in the same data set. Depth and position measurements are accurate to IHO Order 1.

Also on display will be the ILRIS MC laser scanner for coastal mapping. When integrated with an INS, ILRIS delivers geo-referenced data sets for shoreline mapping, harbor entrance mapping and navigation obstacle recognition.
